Welcome to the Arctic Climate Change Youth Forum
(ACCYF) 2008 web site.
ArcticNet Inc., Center for Earth observation sciences (CEOS)
– Schools on board and Le Petit Séminaire de Québec invite
Quebec’s secondary schools to participate in a youth forum
on climate change and Arctic issues. This event will be
held on December 8th 2008, at Le Petit Séminaire de Québec.
This is the second time that such a forum is organized in
Canada. The first one took place in Winnipeg in 2006.
From now on, climate change and arctic issues are part of
national and international priorities. Taking advantage of
the Arctic Change 2008 (December 9th to12th, 2008)
international conference that brings together over 600
researchers, the youth forum will benefit from many of these
renown scientists to sum up the situation of climate change
and its consequences. Themes such as the Arctic food chain,
the greenhouse gases, the melting of the permafrost, the
sovereignty
of Arctic waters, the economical opportunities brought by
climate change will be addressed by scientists and speakers
from all over the world.
This forum will be a captivating activity for all secondary
4 and 5 students who are interested in environmental
sciences (biology, chemistry, geography and physics).
The ACCYF team hopes you’ll enjoy your visit of its web site
and is looking forward to seeing you on December 8th.
